First Grade How To Writing

Over the past two weeks first graders have had an exciting time in the library.  We began our two week lesson by reading the book, How to Make a Liquid Rainbow.  Once we learned how to make a liquid rainbow we used our pneumonic device, TIDE (title, important detail, ending) and transition words to write a paragraph describing how to make a liquid rainbow.  The next week was the fun part because we then used our paragraphs to actually make a liquid rainbow.  We added a picture and labeling to our paragraph to make it the perfect descriptive how to paper!  We also learned a little bit about the properties of matter and density.  It was a great experiment.Liquid Rainbow Writing
