The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program “A Constitutional Speech Contest”

Deadline: January 9, 2018 

Any student enrolled in high school grades 9-12. See your counselor for specific contest details. The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest: The main purpose of the National High School Oratorical Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.

Vandy Fan for a Day provides high school students with information about the selective college admission process, insight into need-based financial aid and an opportunity to watch Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Kentucky Wildcats. High School sophomores and juniors who are first-generation college students and of diverse socioeconomic background can be nominated by their counselor to participate. Nominations are due Sept. 15, 2017. See your counselor if you are interested in being nominated.

Washington University in St. Louis Danforth Scholars Program

Must be nominated by your counselor. Danforth Scholars may receive full or partial tuition scholarships, renewed each year provided they progress academically and uphold their high standards of character. Merit Based Scholarship. Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, an exceptional commitment to community service and high moral character.

The Bryan Scholarship Program offers two scholarships, one male and one female scholar athlete in each entering class. $120,000 total scholarship.
