High School Essay Contest

DEADLINE:  December 5, 2017

The Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA) is once again sponsoring the annual
High School Essay Contest for Tennessee and your students are invited to participate.
All entries into Tennessee Concrete Association’s Essay Contest will be judged by a panel of
industry personnel and TCA will award cash prizes to first, second & third place essays.

First place ($250)
Second-place ($100)
Third-place ($50)

The TCA contest winners will have their essays published in the spring edition of
Tennessee Concrete magazine in addition to the cash prizes.

-Open to all high school students ages 16-18 at the beginning of the school term.
-Essay must be typed, double-spaced and not exceed 600 words.
-Submit essay and entry form at:
-Essays will be judged on content and writing ability (grammar, style, clarity, etc.).
Remember, this is an essay/story.
-Winning essay authors will be asked to submit a head shot photo to go along with their essay in
the Tennessee Concrete magazine.

Tennessee Concrete Association reserves the right to publish the winning entries in whole or in part.
All entries become the property of Tennessee Concrete Association.

Bethel University Hendrix Scholarship Competition

2-day EVENT:  November 10-11, 2017

Hello and greetings from Bethel University!!!


We are a little over a month away from our Hendrix Scholarship Competition.


This is a great opportunity for qualifying students to come and experience campus life at Bethel, while competing for our biggest scholarships!

For the Hendrix competition students have the opportunity to stay in a dorm on campus and eat in our cafeteria and have first hand experience to life at Bethel.  They will be active in our Hendrix competition consisting of an interview, test and essay.


All students competing must first apply to Bethel at:

ROTC Scholarship Types and Benefits!

Did you know there are different types of Army ROTC Scholarships available to your seniors at UNG? Recipients become Army Liueutenants upon graduation from UNG with a Bachelor’s degree. If selected for Active Duty Army,, starting salary is $55,000 per year!

  • General Army ROTC Scholarships (4-year and 3-year Advance Designee)
  • Arabic and Chinese Language Majors
  • STEM Majors
  • Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty (Army National Guard or Army Reserve)
What does the Scholarship pay for?
  • Tuition and Fees – or – Room and Board
  • Monthly Stipend ($300/month freshman; $350/month sophomore; $450/month junior; $500/month senior)
  • $1,200 per year book allowance
  • Total Value at UNG
  • $59,000 for a 4-year scholarship, or $45,000 for a 3-year advance designee scholarship
