Black History Month

By Addison Church

Black History Month is a time we celebrate all the African Americans that have made a big change or difference in the world. For example, Rosa Parks was an African American who stood up for what she believed in, when I heard her story it made a little mark on me to remember to speak up for what I believe in. Can you believe that America has never had a African American president until Barack Obama? He was elected for two terms! We see different people on the street everyday, so why did whites used to judge African Americans and make them slaves? Fredrick Douglas was born into slavery and thankfully escaped to Philadelphia.  As you can see, African Americans have made an impact all around us.
